[ What to expect ]
TECHNIQUE —
Mastery at the keys begins with an effortless relationship between body and instrument. Students learn healthy posture, hand position, refined pedal technique, and nuanced dynamic control to produce a tone that is both rich and resonant. By mastering the physical architecture of sound, students gain the physical freedom to express without limitation.
THEORETICAL LITERACY —
Music theory is not a dry exercise—it is the language of creative freedom. Through our modern, intuitive sight-reading method, understanding notes, harmony, and structure becomes second nature rather than a hurdle. Literacy is integrated so deeply that reading and analyzing music quickly becomes an effortless, subconscious skill.
STYLISTIC AUTHENTICITY —
We reject a one-size-fits-all approach to artistry; no two students in our studio sound the same. From classical masterworks to contemporary genres and original compositions, repertoire is selected to honor each student’s unique musical identity. We guide musicians to honor genre traditions while bringing their genuine, personal voice to every piece.
AURAL INTERPRETATION —
True artistry requires an extraordinary ear. We train students to actively listen, decode, and feel the emotional and structural weight of pitch, rhythm, tone color, and harmony. By bridging physical sound with deep cognitive perception, students learn to translate what they hear directly into thoughtful, compelling performance.
MENTORSHIP —
Beyond notes and technique, our studio is a space of dedicated mentorship. We encourage original songwriting, creative risk-taking, and bold artistic ideas, cultivating a lifelong love for music-making. Our goal is not only to develop exceptional pianists, but to nurture confident, expressive, and thoughtful human beings.
[ Frequently asked questions ]
-
A: Yes. To see meaningful progress, students are expected to practice about 2–3 hours total each week (roughly 20–30 minutes, 5 days a week).
For Beginners: You don't need a multi-thousand-dollar grand piano right away! A quality 88-key weighted keyboard is an excellent, affordable option for the first 1–4 years of study.
Acoustic Pianos: While secondhand acoustic pianos are often available for cheap on Facebook Marketplace, keep in mind they may need tuning or repairs to play properly.
The Long-Term Goal: Because digital keyboards and acoustic pianos respond differently to a pianist’s touch, we encourage families to eventually rent or purchase an acoustic piano as the student progresses.

-
Practice expectations grow with your student, but a solid baseline is 20–30 minutes a day (roughly 5 days a week).
Pro Tip: Remember that practicing (slow, intentional repetition and problem-solving) is different from playing (running through songs for fun). Both are valuable, but progress happens during focused practice!
Fun Fact: Ryan logs about 2 hours of dedicated practice and 4 hours of playing every day—but don’t worry, we won’t make you do that day one!
-
Existing Music: Ryan is more than happy to teach using materials your student already owns.
New Materials: If your student needs new books or sheet music, a complete list will be shared at their first lesson.
Ordering: When new items are required throughout the year, we’ll send a convenient link for parents to purchase and bring to the next session.
